Application of moth-eye structure anti-reflective film for automotive displays.

Free technical materials available: Countermeasures for double images (ghosting) in HUDs with Mosai Film!

Our anti-reflective film "AR100 Series" achieves high effectiveness in reducing light reflection and diffusion when applied to display covers, making it a choice for many manufacturers of monitors, tablet PCs, and in-vehicle displays. Additionally, the optical transparent resin (OCR/LOCA) used to bond the surface panel (top plate) of display products to the display module is a material that suppresses light reflection and refraction at material boundaries. Recently, a new addition to our optical product line is the "Anti-Reflective Film Moss Eye Type." The surface of a moth's eye has regularly arranged nano-level protrusions that allow it to absorb incoming light with minimal reflection. At Dexerials, we have successfully created a structure similar to that of a moth's eye on a resin film using our unique manufacturing method. By applying this to displays, we have established a technology that achieves high anti-reflective effects and improves contrast. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Anti-reflective film using roll-to-roll sputtering technology.

Free Technical Documentation: An explanation of the mechanism, production method, and benefits of our anti-reflective film!

Anti-reflective film is a type of film designed to suppress the reflection of external light on the surface of optical devices such as displays, aiming to prevent a decrease in visibility. Generally, it has a structure where a thin, transparent film with anti-reflective optical properties is layered on the surface of a base film. For example, the sparkling appearance of a water surface is due to the difference in refractive indices between air and water, which causes some light to be reflected at the boundary. Since the surface of a display also has an interface with air, light reflection will inevitably occur even if the display is covered with a transparent glass cover. Anti-reflective film is designed to minimize this reflection as much as possible. Our anti-reflective film consists of an adhesive layer, a base film, a hard coat layer, and an anti-reflective layer, with an anti-fouling treatment applied to the outermost surface. By controlling the refractive indices and thicknesses of the materials that make up the layers so that the phase of the interface reflection light reflected at each membrane interface cancels out the phase of the surface reflection light reflected at the surface, it is possible to reduce the reflected light. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Moss Eye Ball Explanation

I will introduce an explanation of the moss eye ball in a blog format!

This time, I will explain the Moss eye ball. When light enters from the air into the film, a sudden change in refractive index (from 1 to 1.5) occurs, resulting in reflection. Additionally, when light exits the film, a change in refractive index (from 1.5 to 1) also occurs, leading to reflection at this interface as well. The reflectance can be easily calculated from the refractive index in the case of normal incidence, and for changes from 1 to 1.5 or from 1.5 to 1, approximately 4% reflection occurs. (This is a simplified calculation assuming the refractive index of UV resin and PET film is 1.5.) *For more detailed information, you can view the related links. Light extraction of organic EL 2

I will introduce the light extraction of organic EL in a blog format!

I will explain the impact of the moth-eye structure on light extraction when it is present on the surface, but before that, I would like to touch on the changes in refractive index caused by the moth-eye structure. The anti-reflective function of the moth-eye structure is explained as follows: "Structures smaller than the wavelength of light can gradually change the refractive index, which significantly reduces reflection." "Gradually changing the refractive index" means that when light passes through the moth-eye structure, the refractive index changes as shown in the diagram below. *For more detailed content of the blog, please refer to the related links. New technology for anti-reflective film

Free technical materials available! Reflectance approximately 0.3%! Enhancing the luxury of automobiles with 'Piano Black'.

In recent years, automobile users have been seeking stylish interior designs that match the excellent exterior designs of their vehicles. Particularly among those who prefer luxurious designs from Europe and the United States, there has been an increasing number of people who favor interiors with a "piano-like deep glossy black" (piano black). This makes the appearance of displays, which are used for various purposes, particularly important. Recently, many displays have been utilized in car navigation systems and other applications. On the other hand, displays that can express a beautiful "piano black" that harmonizes with the surrounding interior, such as the dashboard, during both power on and off have been difficult to achieve due to technical hurdles. Our company has been advancing the research and development of "anti-reflective films" that enable displays with a luxurious "piano black." The foundation of this research is the anti-reflective technology used in high-grade PC monitors and tablet PC displays. This black is achieved by not reflecting light. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.*

Until the creation of an anti-reflective film with such high transparency that one does not notice its existence.

Free distribution of technical materials! A new technology for forming fine structures! High flexibility in pattern design is our strength.

Dexerials has developed numerous new functional materials and devices, primarily in the field of electronics. One of these is an anti-reflective film that utilizes microstructures. On the surface of a moth's eye, there are regularly arranged protrusions that are smaller than the wavelength of visible light (380nm to 780nm). The area near the tips of these small protrusions appears as if it does not exist to the light entering the moth's eye. For moths, which are primarily active at night, external light reflection in their eyes increases the risk of being detected by predators. At the same time, it is believed that they have evolved this eye structure to navigate without colliding with obstacles even in the faint moonlight at night. The "Moth Eye Type Anti-Reflective Film" developed and manufactured by our company is a product that forms this microstructure on the surface of the film. It features an overwhelmingly low external light reflection rate and high light transmittance compared to conventional films, making it useful in various fields such as display anti-reflection and medical shields due to its low reflection properties. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links. What is a moss-eye structure?

Free technical materials available" Achieving anti-reflection across the entire visible light spectrum! Practicality is enhanced by being "fog-free.

Moths, which are nocturnal insects, can freely fly around in the dark of night while protecting themselves from predators. To find food sources such as nectar and tree sap, they have evolved a special eye structure known as "moth-eye." The surface of a moth's compound eye is lined with numerous tiny protrusions at the nanoscale, arranged at regular intervals. This structure allows the eye to capture faint light with almost no reflection. The protrusions that form the moth-eye structure are smaller than the wavelength of visible light and are arranged in a regular pattern. The reflection of light in the atmosphere occurs due to differences in the refractive index between air and the material it encounters. However, the protrusions in the moth's eye are shaped like curved spindles, allowing them to capture incoming light from various angles while continuously changing the refractive index, resulting in minimal light reflection from the moth's eye. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links.
